Nine suspects were nabbed on Monday for allegedly helping residents cheat a local insurance company by issuing fake sick notes and misusing the government’s health vouchers to buy goods from three Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) shops, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference yesterday.
The police said that they were tipped off by a local insurance company in May last year.
Sick notes are colloquially known as M7 forms in local jargon, while the local government’s annual medical subsidy is informally known as health vouchers.
Various items of evidence – notebooks, fraudulently filled out M7 forms, electronic health voucher receipts, laptops and smart phones– are displayed in a pressroom of the Judiciary Police (PJ) headquarters in Zape yesterday. Photo: MPDG
