A couple from the Philippines, who work in Macau as non-resident workers, were taken to the public Conde de S. Januário Hospital Centre for treatment after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning in a flat in Nam Van yesterday, the Health Bureau (SSM) said in a statement, adding that they have meanwhile been discharged from the hospital

According to the statement, the 30-year-old wife went into the flat’s bathroom for a shower yesterday morning. She began to suffer a headache and muscle weakness and felt woozy 15 minutes later, after which her 35-year-old husband went to the bathroom to check, after which he also felt dizzy.

Flatmates discovered what had happened and called the emergency services. The couple were rushed to the public hospital, where they were diagnosed with carbon monoxide poisoning, the statement said.
