The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a male mainlander on Tuesday for demanding a “breakup fee” of HK$30,000 from his former girlfriend, also a mainlander, late last month, threatening that otherwise he would release photos and video clips showing her only wrapped in towels, PJ spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a special press conference yesterday.
The suspect came up with the extortion plan after the victim, who had meanwhile got a new boyfriend, refused his demand early last month that they make up, after the suspect had forced her to pose for photos and video clips of her wrapped in towels, when he allegedly also punched and kicked her in his flat in Zape, according to Ho.
Ho identified the suspect as a 37-year-old surnamed Zhang who told the police that he is the co-owner of a property management company.
