An 80-year-old local woman was hit by a taxi near the Barrier Gate border checkpoint yesterday afternoon, sustaining serious injuries, the Public Security Police (PSP) said.
The 30-year-old cabbie passed a breathalyser test, the police said, adding that they have launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
According to the police, the accident happened at around 4:45 p.m. when the taxi was turning into Avenida do Hipódromo from Rua da Serenidade.
