The Health Bureau (SSM) announced this afternoon two suspected novel coronavirus cases - a 51-year-old local nurse who was in contact with a confirmed patient from Wuhan last Thursday, and a 36-year-old non-resident male worker from Hubei at Macau's quarantine facility in Coloane.
According to an SSM statement, the nurse came down with a fever, runny nose, sore throat and cough this morning when she was taken to the emergency department of he public Conde de S. Januario Hospital Centre's isolation ward for tests.
The non-resident worker from Hubei began coughing this morning and was also taken to the public hospital's isolation ward for tests.
If confirmed, the nurse would be the first local resident to have been infected with the Wuhan virus.
So far, all of the seven confirmed novel coronavirus patients have been Wuhan residents. All of them continue to be hospitalised, even though the Health Bureau has described their conditions as :"mild."
