Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng has congratulated Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Vice-Chairman Xia Baolong on his concurrent appointment as director of the State Council Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office (HKMAO) today , according to a statement by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) last night.
According to the statement, Ho sent the congratulatory message in his own name and on behalf of the government of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) to Xia.
Ho stressed in the message fully quoted by the statement,"We will, under the firm and strong leadership of the central government, continue to strengthen communication with the State Council Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, reinforce cooperation and fully and correctly implement the principle of 'One Country, Two Systems," as well as strictly comply with the Constitution and Basic Law, in order to promote together the success of the stable and continuous implementation of the principle of 'One Country, Two Systems' with Macau characteristics."
