A man threatened to jump from the 9th-floor corridor balcony of Julieta Nobre da Carvalho Building, Block C, in Avenida de Artur Tamagnini Barbosa, yesterday. The man, a 26-year-old mainlander surnamed Zhang, appeared there at about 8 a.m. yesterday, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman told The Macau Post Daily by phone, adding that the police found the man’s passport “somewhere near the building”. A middle-aged female resident, who was in the crowd watching Zhang, told The Macau Post Daily at about 1 p.m. that the man was just “performing” and urged him to jump from the building. She refused to give her surname. Later at around 2:30 p.m., a male resident standing below told other bystanders: “I think he would have already jumped if he really wanted to.” He also said the man had caused “disruption to business” in the area because part of the road was blocked.

The PSP spokesman said late last night that several police officers were still talking to the man.
