Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng has met with Macau's deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC) and members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to hear their opinions and suggestions on the special administrative region's development and drafting of the local government's policy programme for this year, the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the NPC deputies and CPPCC members also expressed their views on the ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and the government's strategy to support the local economy's recovery that has been hit hard by the pandemic.

The statement said that Ho appreciated the representatives' suggestions on promoting Macau's development and progress, based on the opportunities that the national development strategy is offering Macau. The meetings took place on Thursday.

The statement did not say how many NPC deputies and CPPCC members took part in the meetings.

Macau has 12 NPC deputies and 37 CPPCC members.

Ho is a former member of the elite NPC Standing Committee.
