The Macau government announced early today the city's 31st novel coronavirus (COVID-19) case, a 27-year-old local man who arrived in Macau from New York via Hong Kong yesterday.
According to a statement by the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, the case has been classified as an imported case.
The statement said that the man took a Cathay Pacific Airways flight from New York to Hong Kong where he arrived yesterday, from where he took a special bus arranged by the Macau Tourism Crisis Management Office to the Macau border checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge where Health Bureau staff detected that he was having a fever. He was immediately taken from the checkpoint to the special emergency department of the public Conde de S. Januario Hospital Centre for tests. His COVID-19 infection was confirmed early today.
The statement described his condition as "normal". He is undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of the public hospital.
