An abseiling firefighter drop-kicked a 26-year-old mainlander, who had threatened to jump from a 9th floor balcony of a residential high rise, into the building’s corridor yesterday at around 2 a.m., a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman told The Macau Post Daily by phone last night.
The day-long drama unfolded at Julieta Nobre da Carvalho Building, Block C, in Avenida de Artur Tamgagnini Barbosa.
The man, a tourist surnamed Zhang, stood on the ledge of the corridor balcony for around 18 hours starting at about 8 a.m. on Wednesday, the spokesman said. Part of the road was blocked during the stand-off. Several police officers had tried in vain for hours to talk the man out of his apparent suicide bid.
