A 29-year-old man is alleged to have sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl who got drunk in a karaoke bar last week, the Judiciary Police (PJ) has announced.
The girl went to the bar in Nape last Monday with the man whom she only met recently.
According to a press conference by the Judiciary Police on Friday, the girl got drunk and when she woke up the following day, she found that she was only scantily dressed in the flat of the man who was still sleeping beside her.
The victim suspected that she had been sexually assaulted by the man so she called her boyfriend for help who reported the case to the police. Public Security Police (PSP) officers arrived at the flat and arrested the suspect who was transferred to the Judiciary Police for investigation, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference on Friday.
The suspect is a local resident surnamed Wong who works for a casino VIP room.
Leng said that the Judiciary Police received the case from the Public Security Police last Tuesday night. The 15-year-old had met Wong through a friend early this month. Wong asked her to join him and his friends at the karaoke bar.
The victim got drunk and Wong took her to his flat in Ilha Verde district where he is alleged to have sexually assaulted her.
According to Leng, when questioned by the police Wong confessed that he had sexual intercourse with the victim, wearing a condom, but refused to say anything else about the case, according to Leng.
Wong has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP) for further questioning, facing possible arraignment on a charge of sexual abuse of a person incapable of resistance.
According to Article 159 of the Penal Code, the offender of sexual abuse of a person incapable of resistance faces a prison term of between one and eight years. If the case involves sexual intercourse, the prison term ranges between two and 10 years, according to the Penal Code.
