The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a mainlander on Wednesday for robbing a prostitute, PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man said during a special press conference yesterday.
The 37-year-old mainland suspect surnamed Lao told the police that he is a non-resident textile worker. The 32-year-old female victim is an illegal immigrant from Zhuhai. Her surname was not released.
According to Chan, Lao paid the victim HK$1,400 for her sex service at a hotel guestroom in Cotai on Monday where the victim stayed. During the service, the victim told Lao that she is an illegal immigrant.
The victim received a message from Lao at around 9 p.m. on Tuesday that he wanted to introduce a client to her. The victim left the hotel and got into the suspect’s car. When Lao drove the victim up a hill near A-Ma Cultural Village she became suspicious and asked to get out of the car. Lao dropped the victim off on the hill, according to Chan.
However, Chan said the victim got back into Lao’s car since she did not know the way down. When Lao stopped the car somewhere elso on the hill, the victim tried to escape from the car but was pulled back by Lao. Lao grabbed the victim round the throat and allegedly threatened to kill her. Lao used cable ties to bind the victim’s wrists and robbed her of valuables worth about HK$20,000.
According to Chan, Lao released the victim near Cotai and cut the ties with a nail clipper. Lao also warned the victim that it was useless for her to call the police because she’s an illegal immigrant. The victim called the Judiciary Police immediately after she had been released and returned to the hotel at 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Chan added.
PJ officers arrested Lao on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. near his home in Lai Chi Vun in Coloane. Lao denied the crime. Lao was transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing a robbery charge, Chan said.
According to Article 204 of the Macau Penal Code, the suspect faces up to 15 years behind bars.
Meanwhile, the victim told the police that she illegally entered Macau to sell sex in January this year. The Judiciary Police later confirmed that the victim had been banned from entering Macau for three years in May last year. She has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing a charge of illegal entry.
