Ho to deliver 2020 Policy Address tomorrow

Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng will deliver his 2020 Policy Address in the hemicycle of the Legislative Assembly (AL) tomorrow afternoon, the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) said in a statement today. 

The session will start at 3 p.m. It will be followed by a press conference at Government Headquarters from 5 p.m.

Informed sources have told The Macau Post Daily that the policy address will focus on the government’s raft of measures to support local residents and businesses during the COVID-19 crisis and its recovery plans for the local economy. Macau’s economy has been severely affected by the crisis, namely its gaming, tourism, retail and media sectors.

On Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Ho will attend a Q&A session in the legislature.

The government’s five policy secretaries and senior officials from their respective portfolios will separately present their 2020 policy guidelines to the legislature between 3 p.m. and 12 a.m. on the following dates:

Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon: Friday, April 24;

Secretary for Economy and Finance Lei Wai Nong: Monday, April 27;

Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak: Wednesday, April 29;

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U: Monday, May 4;

Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosário: Wednesday, May 6.

The public can follow Ho’s 2010 Policy Address and press conference – and the Q&A session with lawmakers– via live broadcast on the TV and radio channels of public broadcaster TDM.

According to the GCS statement, members of the public may also watch the proceedings online via the Macau Special Administrative Region Government Portal (www.gov.mo); the website of the Chief Executive’s Office (www.gce.gov.mo); the website of the Legislative Assembly (www.al.gov.mo); the website of the Government Information Bureau (news.gov.mo); via the official channels on YouTube of the Chief Executive’s Office (www.youtube.com/c/gcegovmo) and of the Government Information Bureau (www.youtube.com/user/macaogcs); and via the Government Information Bureau’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/macaogcs).

Users of portable devices may watch the live sessions via “GCE Macao”, a mobile application issued by the Chief Executive’s Office, or through “MSAR News”, the mobile app of the Macau Government Information Bureau.

The 2020 Policy Address will be issued in Chinese and Portuguese. It will be available for download once Ho has completed his live address, either from the Macau SAR Government Portal; that of the website of the Chief Executive’s Office; from the Government Information Bureau; or via the dedicated website www.policyaddress.gov.mo.

Hard copies of the 2020 Policy Address will be available at the following locations from tomorrow afternoon: the Government Head Office Auxiliary Bureau; the Public Information Centre; the headquarters of the Municipal Affairs Bureau (AIM) in Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro; the Macau Central Library at Praca do Tap Seac; the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT); the Government Information Bureau; and at the Government Printing Bureau (IO).
