The bus stops at the Praça Ferreira do Amaral transport hub have been rearranged since Saturday, following the completion of the first phase of the renovation project, according to a statement by the Transport Bureau (DSAT).

In Cantonese, the square is known as “A Ma La”.

According to the DSAT statement on Friday, the buses which pass through the terminus will halt at the relocated stops between lanes A and H.

The bus routes which previously stopped both in the square and outside Hotel Lisboa will now only stop at one of them. The routes 22, 25, 25B and 28A will stop in the square, while the routes 3, 3A, 8, 10, 10A, 12, 23 ,32 and 30x will stop at “Hotel Lisboa”, according to the DSAT statement.

The square’s waiting area for passengers will be enlarged and more buses can now stop there at the same time, according to the DSAT statement.

A male bus passenger surnamed Man told The Macau Post Daily yesterday in the square that he was disappointed with the rearrangement.

Man noted that like him many passengers in Praça Ferreira do Amaral find it difficult to find their respective bus stops.

Man said the expansion of the waiting area could not tackle the problem of people jumping the queue when waiting for their bus.

Also speaking to The Macau Post Daily yesterday in the square, a Transmac staff member surnamed Lei admitted that passengers were still rather confused about the new arrangement. However, he said that yesterday the situation appeared to be improving.

Lei said it was understandable that the passengers were not familiar with the new arrangement on Saturday, the first day after the completion of the first phase. He pointed out that fewer passengers asked him about the bus stops yesterday. Additional Transmac staff were deployed yesterday at the terminus to respond to passengers’ enquiries, Lei added.
