The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) has announced the launch of the Lotus Cycling Track optimisation project in Taipa early this month to improve the facilities. The project aims to extend the cycling track and build additional recreational facilities to provide a high-quality leisure space, the bureau said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the main aim of the optimisation project is to lengthen the cycling and running track by about 250 metres and to widen it by about 11 metres near Galaxy’s Broadway Hotel. The project also includes resurfacing the existing cycling and running tracks with asphalt. There will be two additional bird watching platforms and fitness equipment areas. The construction period is estimated to be about 160 days, the statement said.

The statement said the cycling track from Rotunda do Dique Oeste to Rotunda Marginal was closed on Wednesday due to the upcoming construction project. According to the statement, residents can use the entrance next to the bus stop in Rotunda Marginal and Estrada do Dique Oeste to enter the cycling track.
