Two local men have been arrested for stealing a total of eight turtles from Lou Lim Ieoc Garden, the Public Security Police (PSP) said in a post on its social media page today.

In the post, the police said that they arrived at the scene when they received reports of two cases of turtles having been stolen from the public park, where security guards saw the two men catching the turtles near the pond.

According to the post, when police officers checked the two men, they found three turtles in one of the men’s bum bag and the hidden pocket of his jacket, and five turtles in the other man’s rucksack.

The post noted that the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) confirmed that the turtles are its property so that it would take legal action.

The two men, both local residents in their 60s, have been taken to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).

The post did not reveal why the duo stole the turtles.
