The Macau Shandong Friendship Association will continue to put its best effort into boosting co-operation between the city and the coastal province in aspects such as culture, education and economic development, Che Seak Man, president of the association, said yesterday.

The association held its 10th anniversary celebration and the swearing-in ceremony of the new board members at Sands Cotai Central last night, which was attended by a number of high-ranking guests including former chief executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah, who is now a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng as well as senior Shandong officials.

Addressing the ceremony, Che said the association would arrange for some local secondary school pupils to familiarise themselves with Confucianism during a trip to the eastern province later this year, adding that they would visit Qufu city, the birthplace of Confucius.
