The world's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases went beyond 8 million today, according to the real-time statistics reference website worldometers.info.
According to the website, the number of global novel coronavirus disease cases in 213 countries and territories reached 8,028,334 at 10:20 p.m. (Macau time), including 436,279 deaths and 4,148,301 recovered cases. Among the 3,443,754 currently infected cases, 98 percent were "mild condition" cases and 2 percent (54,538) were "serious or critical" cases.
The US, Brazil, Russia, India and the UK were the top five countries with confirmed COVID-19 cases, according to worldometers.info.
Macau's number of confirmed COVID-19 stands at 45. No new cases have been reported for 68 days. All the 45 patients have been discharged from hospital some time ago.
