Dead man found in van

A man was found dead yesterday in a van parked at a meter parking spot in Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon near Iao Hon Municipal Market, according to a message by Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam.

According to Ho’s message, the Fire Services Bureau (CB) notified the Judiciary Police at 6:46 a.m. yesterday that they had found a corpse and asked PJ officers to go to the scene to investigate.

The deceased was a 52-year-old local man surnamed Chan.

According to the message, Chan used to park the vehicle and would pick up his colleague to go to work. Chan’s colleague went as usual to meet Chan at the parking spot at 6:20 a.m. He found Chan sitting in the vehicle but failing to respond so he called the police for help. Subsequently, firefighters arrived at the scene and confirmed that the man had died.

Chan’s belongings were still with him and after a preliminary examination of the body, no suspicious injuries were found.

The case has initially been classified as a dead body found, and the cause of death is to be determined by a forensic examination, according to the message.

The case has been referred to the PJ Investigation section for follow-up, Ho’s message added.
