Brazil's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has gone beyond one million, the second highest in the world after the US, according to worldometers.info

According to the real-time statistics website, as of 3:50 p.m. (Macau time) Brazil had 1,038,568 confirmed novel coronavirus disease cases, with 49,090 deaths.

Brazil is one of just two countries that have more than one million confirmed COVID-19 cases. In the US the number stood at 2.29 million, including 121,407 deaths this afternoon.

The novel coronavirus has been confirmed in 213 countries and territories and two international conveyances, according to worldometers.info.

All of Macau's 45 COVID-19 cases have been discharged from hospital. Observers have noted that close to 100 percent of people in Macau have been wearing facemasks when out and about since late January. Facemasks are mandatory on public transport and in casinos and public administration offices. The Macau government has imposed strict border entry and quarantine regulations over the past few months.
