CTM’s 2019 profit rises 7 pct to 1.01 billion patacas

Macau’s top telecom operator CTM reported a net profit of 1.01 billion patacas last year, a 7 percent year-on-year increase, according to a notice published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday. 

Howevery CTM’s receipts fell 13 percent to 4.24 billion patacas last year. The company attributed the decline to fewer mobile phone and other equipment sales. However, receipts from services rose 5 percent year-on-year. CTM last year reduced its investments, according to the notice. 

At the end of last year, CTM had 125,102 fixed-line customers last year, down by 7,929 from 2018. The mobile phone penetration rate reached 411 percent last year. In 2018 it stood at 336 percent. At the end of last year, CTM’s number of mobile phone clients rose 20 percent year-on-year to 1.14 million. The number of mobile phone broadband subscribers rose 7 percent to 312,876. 

At the end of last year, CTM had 193,030 Internet clients, 147,390 of whom had access to fibre optic broadband at home.
