Gaming and junket operators said yesterday that the government’s recent ban on phone or proxy betting had only had a minor impact on gaming revenue but urged the government to let tourists know about it so as to prevent conflicts at the gaming tables.
The comments were made on the sidelines of the three-day G2E Asia gaming expo that kicked off at the Venetian yesterday. The expo, which has drawn 180 exhibitors, will wrap up tomorrow.
SJM Executive Director Angela Leong On Kei told reporters the impact on her company’s revenue since the government imposed the ban on Monday last week had been “tiny”.
