A painting exhibition entitled “Mono Chrome” by Portuguese artist-cum-poet António Duarte Mil-Homens is being held at Casa Garden.

The event is organised by the artist and co-supported by the Portuguese Consulate General, Casa de Portugal em Macau, Orient Foundation (FO), Portuguese Orient Institute (IPOR), AICEP Portugal Global, and the Macau Foundation (FM).

Macau resident Mil-Homens was born in Lisbon in 1949.

According to the exhibition leaflet, he is essentially a self-taught artist and started to engage in artistic photography in 1974. He won prizes in several competitions and has taught 51 photography courses, as well as a string of photography workshops.

Aside from photography, painting and poetry are his other artistic passions.

“Project postponed for decades. Painting finally joint Photography and Writing as a form of expression. Times of crisis become times of decision. The title of the show results from the aesthetic option of not using colour. Black and white, with all possible ranges of grey in between, will be characteristic of my creativity in this area,” Mil-Homens writes in a message that is part of the leaflet.

The exhibition showcases acrylic paintings.

The exhibition runs until July 30 in the gallery of Casa Garden in Praça Luís de Camões. It opens from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Mondays. Admission is free. The paintings are for sale. They are priced at 5,000 patacas, 9,000 patacas and 14,000 patacas.

Casa Garden houses the local branch of the Lisbon-based Orient Foundation.
