Brazil's COVID-19 cases top 2 million, India's 1 million: report

Confirmed COVID-19 cases in Brazil and India today went beyond two million and one million respectively, worldometers.info reported. 

According to the real-time statistics website, Brazil had 2.014 million confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus disease at 4:40 p.m. (Macau time) today, with 76,822 deaths. 

India's number of confirmed COVID-19 cases amounted to 1.005 million, with 25,622 fatalities. 

The world's total number of confirmed novel coronavirus cases stood at 13.961 million, with 593,016 deaths. The US continued to have the world's most confirmed novel coronavirus cases and fatalities: 3.695 million cases, with 141,118 deaths. 

Macau has confirmed 46 COVID-19 cases since January 22. Only one of the patients is still hospitalised. No deaths and no community outbreak of the contagious disease have been reported in Macau. The government has sold over 100 million facemasks to residents and non-resident workers since late January at the fixed price of 8 patacas (US$1) for 10 patacas every 10 days. 

Macau's population stood at 696,100 at the end of March. 

The government has also imposed strict border entry restrictions to prevent the disease from spreading in Macau. Foreign nationals without the right of abode in Macau are banned from entering the city.
