An exhibition of Macau brand ZICS created by local artist San Lee Ming San is on display at the Macau Fashion Gallery (MFG) as part of the “2020 Brand Story – Macau Original Fashion Exhibition II” co-organised by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Centre (CPTTM).
According to a CPTTM statement, the exhibition provides participants with the opportunity to showcase their brands in their own creative styles and their brands’ concepts as well as to “spread the charm of the very original local brands to the public.”
The “Brand Story” series was launched in 2017, and five local brands have been selected for this year’s exhibition, namely Lexx Moda, Nega C., ZICS, FAITH & FEARLESS, and NO.42. The designs are to be showcased in five phases, with one brand being featured in each phase, according to the statement.
The third phase of the exhibition features fashion label “ZICS” founded by Lee who graduated from the Department of Integrated Design of the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM) and attended the CPTTM’s “Diploma Course in Fashion Design and Production”. He created “ZICS” in 2009 and participated in many fashion shows and exhibitions in Hong Kong, Macau and the mainland, according to information provided by the gallery.
According to the exhibition leaflet, Lee mainly focused on the brand’s style in the current exhibition for women’s fashion featuring striped suits and semi-transparent fabric to create a simple, neat, and well-pressed neutral style. Lee wants to bring a neutral image of black, grey and white to the city. The brand’s creation idea is to explore themes with an experimental sense in the diversified urban life, create wearable and unique costumes with simple tailoring and personalised details, build a neutral image, and explore the possibility of asymmetry and hierarchy, the leaflet points out.
ZICS wants to create a subtle connection with the wearer and the city through every piece of costume, according to the leaflet.
The exhibition runs until August 30 at the Macau Fashion Gallery at 47, Rua de S. Roque, S. Lázaro district. The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except Mondays. Admission is free.
