Grassroots lawmaker Antonio Ng Kuok Cheong yesterday urged members of the government-appointed Urban Planning Committee and residents to continue giving their opinions on the proposed development of a plot of land next to the city’s Muslim cemetery.
Ng also said that the committee members, who voted against the proposed height limit of 127 metres for the plot because they thought it to be too high for the neighbourhood, should make their positions public and release a joint statement on the matter.
The legislator made the remarks during a group interview at his office in Iao Hon, where reporters asked for his comments on the first-ever vote carried out by the committee on the legal conditions proposed by the Lands, Transport and Public Works Bureau (DSSOPT) for the possible development of a plot of land, in this case concerning the plot next to the cemetery owned by Macau’s Islamic Association which plans to build the high-rise.
