The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement this week that the rainwater pumping station project in the northern area of the Inner Harbour was expected to be up and running by next year’s rainy season.
The statement released on Wednesday said that in order to ease the flooding situation in low-lying areas during heavy rain, the bureau decided to launch the project. The statement pointed out that the project is expected operational by the next rainy season, adding the aim of the station was to prevent flooding in the Inner Harbour area.
The statement noted that the pumping station is located between Inner Harbour Pier 25 and Pier 26 and that there will be box culverts along Avenida de Demetrio Cinatti.
The statement underlined that despite the fact that the weather and the COVID-19 pandemic have affected some parts of the construction progress, the pumping station would still be up and running according to the original timeline.
