The Economic Services Bureau (DSE) reminded the public in a statement yesterday that its “special feature shops programme” was launched last month to promote 41 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and prepare them for the post-COVID-19 reopening of the city.
According to the statement, the programme aims to improve local SMEs and enhance their overall service and brand image. The programme includes re-branding the shops’ image and helping stores to promote themselves on social media platforms the statement said.
There are 41 approved local “special feature shops” involved in the programme, comprising 24 restaurants and 17 retail shops, according to the bureau’s website. The statement pointed out that the shops agreed that the programme has helped to promote their image, adding that the programme has also improved the stores’ service and management. When the city reopens, they will be ready for new business opportunities, the statement predicted.
The first phase of the programme started along Rua de Cinco de Outubro because the street is filled with history and unique shops, the statement said. The statement also noted that some murals have been painted along the street to attract people to take pictures for Instagram and promote the area, according to the statement.
The list of “special feature shops” is on the bureau’s website for those interested in discovering more local stores and their stories.
