The public University of Macau (UM) said in a statement yesterday that in-person classes will resume on Monday, adding that “courses scheduled for the first semester of the new academic year will be mainly conducted face-to-face”.
According to the statement, classes at UM will abide by guidelines issued by the Health Bureau and the Higher Education Bureau of the Macau government.
The statement said that classes with up to 100 students will be in-person, adding that classes with more than 100 people will be divided into groups, with each group alternating between in-class teaching and online classes. The statement also said that classes with more than 200 students will be conducted online entirely.
The university will also provide online classes for students who are unable to attend in-person lectures due to travel restrictions, according to the statement.
The statement pointed out that the university has disinfected and deep-cleaned various locations on campus. The university pledged that it will closely monitor the development of the epidemic and adjust its teaching arrangements accordingly. Students are advised to wash their hands frequently, wear facemasks, and maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
