Suspect says he did it because victim was ‘too cute’
Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said during a regular press conference yesterday that a security guard from the mainland, surnamed He, was arrested on Sunday for the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl more than 10 times on multiple occasions.
According to Cheong, the suspect is 30-year-old non-resident worker employed as a security guard at the building where the 9-year-old girl’s family lives, near Estrada Governador Albano de Oliveira in Taipa. Cheong said that the suspect admitted the crime, adding that he said he did it because “the girl was too cute”.
Cheong said that the girl and her mother reported the case to the police on Saturday night. Cheong added that the girl was scared to talk about the incidents before but on Saturday after her mother talked to her about sex education, she decided to tell her mother about the incidents.
According to Cheong, the security guard kissed the girl’s face and touched her head, belly and shoulder more than 10 times on different occasions when she was waiting alone for the lift in her building. Cheong also said that according to the girl, the last time it happened was around last Wednesday.
Cheong said that the police were not aware of other victims, adding that the suspect has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) where he’s facing a child sex abuse charge.
According to Article 166 of the Macau Penal Code, sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14 is punishable by a prison term from one to eight years.
