A local woman was arrested last Friday for stealing beauty products worth 13,900 patacas and hiding the loot in a child’s pushchair, Public Security Police (PSP) Wong Wai Chon said at a regular press conference on Wednesday.
The 40-year-old jobless suspect is surnamed Sou.
According to Wong, an employee of a cosmetics shop in a shopping mall in Cotai reported to the police last Friday at about 5 p.m. that five items of cosmetics and skin care products had vanished. The staff had scrutinised the shop’s CCTV footage and discovered that a woman had entered the shop with a child in a pushchair. The footage showed that when she walked along aisles past the display shelves, she picked up a number of goods and put them into the pushchair. Afterwards, she left the store without payment.
According to Wong, PSP officers identified Sou and arrested her in a flat in Avenida de Kwong Tung in Taipa the same day. Under questioning, Sou admitted to stealing the products “out of greed”. PSP officers recovered the stolen goods from the flat.
Sou was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) last Saturday, facing a theft charge, according to Wong.
