The storm-warning Signal No. 3, which was hoisted at 6:30 a.m. today, will remain in effect tonight, the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) said this afternoon.

According to an SMG statement, Typhoon Saudel was located about 480 km south-southeast of Macau at 6 p.m. when it was moving towards the southern island province of Hainan.

The statement said that under the influence of the typhoon, winds with a sustained speed of 41 to 62 km/h were expected, adding that gusts may exceed 110 km/h.

The bureau had hoisted the stand-by Signal No. 1 at 6 p.m. yesterday.

Due to the hoisting of Signal No. 3, kindergarten, primary and special education classes have been suspended.

Motorcyclists have been advised to use the enclosed level of Sai Van Bridge when travelling between the Macau peninsula and Taipa.
