Drones banned during Grand Prix: aviation regulator

The authorities will ban all unmanned aircraft activity over the peninsula during this year’s three-day Macau Grand Prix which begins tomorrow to ensure that the event will take place in a safe environment, the Macau Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) said in a statement yesterday.

“To ensure… that the races can be carried out smoothly”, the [Macau] Civil Aviation Authority (AACM) will ban all unmanned aircraft activities on November 20-22 over the peninsula, based on Article 66 of Macau’s Air Navigation Regulation (Executive Order No. 64/2019). With the exception of unmanned aircraft operations by the local government, all other unmanned aircraft activities over the peninsula between tomorrow and Sunday. Violators face a fine between 2,000 patacas and 20,000 patacas.

The ban was gazetted yesterday.
