Chinese contemporary dance piece “From In” by Xie Xin Dance Theatre will be staged for two shows at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) on February 24 and 25.
Described as a frenzy display of contrasts, “From In” is an enigmatic and fluid work interpreted by nine dancers whose figures appear and disappear, like fading images in a film.
Xie Xin’s work explores a multiplicity of moments where the bodies are taken to the extreme, flowing in their elasticity to produce an aesthetic of priming elegance.
Since its 2016 debut in Shanghai, “From In” has toured numerous cities such as Beijing, Hangzhou and Hong Kong and was invited to various dance festivals in Europe such as the Stuttgart Colours and the Kuopio Dance where it has been praised by audiences and critics alike.
Dubbed as a driving force in the developing Chinese contemporary dance scene, Xie Xin founded her ground-breaking company in 2014. The creator’s collaborations with acclaimed choreographers such as Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, amongst many other international names, have inspired Xie Xin’s creative drive.
Her recent appearance at “Dance Smash”, a popular TV reality show on the mainland, has transformed the dancer into a national sensation.
This appearance in Macau will be enriched with a workshop hosted by the very own Xie Xin, where she will be sharing views and a chance for participants to explore dance by drawing inspirations from her choreographic moves.
Besides these sessions, after the second performance, Xie Xin will also share with the audience some insights on her dance piece.
Tickets to “From In” will be available from Sunday at CCM’s box office and Macao Ticketing Network outlets, subject to various discounts.
