The National Audit Office (NAO) will intensify the auditing of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) operating in Macau, Liu Jiayi, the central government’s auditor-general, said yesterday.
Liu, who also chairs the governing board of the International Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), was invited by the local government to give a lecture on the National Audit Office’s role, at the Macau East Asian Games Dome in Cotai.
Over 100 senior officials including Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On and his predecessor Edmund Ho Hau Wah, who is now a vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended the lecture. Legislative Assembly (AL) President Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive Election Committee members, local CPPCC members and National People’s Congress (NPC) deputies were also in attendance.
