The Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) announced yesterday that common local social issues will be included in teaching materials this school year, with the view of assisting teachers in raising students’ crime prevention awareness.

The teaching kit, entitled “New Knowledge for Youth” (“青年新知”), aims to sensitise students to identify illegal traps and the latest scams that they need to be aware of, thereby preventing deviance, the bureau said in a statement.

The statement noted that the bureau will, in conjunction with Macau’s law enforcement agencies, continue its efforts to enhance students’ awareness of compliance with the law through various channels, including on-campus and community campaigns.

In addition, the bureau called on young students and their parents to refrain from engaging in smuggling activities, highlighting the fact that the legal consequences would not only affect their own future, but could also have a negative impact on their families and the community in general.

According to the statement, the bureau also urged young students to never believe in recruitment advertising from unknown platforms, especially those featuring promotion tactics such as promising “quick money”.
