The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced in a statement yesterday that the 2nd Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) Macao International Shorts Film Festival will run from this Sunday through September 21, aiming to showcase international and local short films, with the tickets now on sale.
Organised by the bureau and GEG, this year’s festival will feature five sections, including “Macao Shorts,” where 10 local films will compete for the “Macao Unit Award” and “Jury Special Mention” award, the statement said, adding that the jury for this section includes Icelandic-German Director Gunnur Martinsdóttir Schlüter, Danish Director Lasse Lyskjær Noer, and Belgian distributor Ben Vandendaele.
The statement added that the festival will also feature “New Voices from Horizon,” a collection of 26 international short films, competing for “Best Short Film,” “Best Director,” “Innovative Storytelling Award,” and “Jury Special Mention”.
Notable jury members for this section include Isabelle Glachant, Yov Moor, and Phạm Thiên An, the statement noted, adding that the “East Asia Panorama” section will highlight 10 outstanding short films from East Asia, competing for the “East Asia of Tomorrow Award”.
Film screenings will be held at Galaxy Cinemas in the integrated resort of Galaxy Macau and Cinematheque•Passion. Tickets are now on sale through the Enjoy Macau Ticketing at ticketing.enjoymacao.mo. Various discount packages are available, including a 50 percent discount for holders of valid Student Card and elderly aged 65 or above, and a 20 percent discount for members of the public who purchase 10 or more tickets.
