The Macau ∙ Qingdao Beer Cultural Festival will bring together “Tsingtao Beer” and “Macau Beer” at Wynn Palace in Cotai from July 16 to August 8, a statement by the organising committee of the event said on Friday.

According to the statement, in order to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding the Communist Party of China (CPC), the first edition of the festival will celebrate the occasion with a toast to congratulate the Party on its extraordinary achievements over the past century.

The statement said that the beer-fest is jointly hosted by Wynn Macau and the organising committee in conjunction with Tsingtao Brewery Co. Ltd and Macau Beer Co. Ltd.

The statement said that Tsingtao Beer and Macau Beer will be the focal points of the event, which will be held from 6 p.m. to midnight from July 16 to August 8 on the lawn adjacent to the Wynn Palace South Entrance. The statement noted that the 24-day beer festival will integrate four elements: good food, performances, tourism promotion, and cultural and creative exhibitions. The statement said that a large beer hall will be set up onsite with fun games and photo-taking opportunities where attendees can get to know more about the beer cultures of the two cities, adding that there will be a special “Two Cities Cultural and Creative Zone” which will showcase key features of Macau and Qingdao so that residents and guests can experience the vibrant cultures of both places.

Vice Chairman and Executive Director of Wynn Macau Limited Linda Chen Chih-Ling said at a press conference on Friday at Wynn Macau in Nape that “Qingdao and Macau are two cities that have enjoyed a close and enduring relationship. Not only do they have similar advantages in terms of their urban environment, but they also have the same synergies in terms of urban resources and tourism. Amid the trends of recovery and stable economic growth following the COVID-19 pandemic in the mainland, Macau is seizing this opportunity to cooperate with Qingdao to promote the development of twin-city cultural tourism, an important initiative to realise the promise of the country’s ‘dual circulation’ economic model. The result demonstrates Macau’s charm as a world centre of tourism and leisure while also highlighting the unique characteristics of the two cities.”

The statement said that there will be a series of activities featuring the two cities including the “Qingdao-Macau Tourism Promotion Conference” and the “Qingdao-Macau Wedding Photography Event” in order to promote the tourism resources of Qingdao to Macau’s tourism industry.

Tsingtao Brewery was founded by Anglo-German investors in Qingdao in 1903 which at that time was under German administration.

Macau Beer was founded by an American brewer in Macau in 1996.
