Macau's general unemployment rate fell by 0.3 percentage points to 2.8 percent in the February-April survey period compared to the previous (January-March) period, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.
According to a statement by the bureau yesterday, local residents' unemployment rate dropped by 0.3 percentage points to 3.6 percent.
The general unemployment rate comprises residents and non-resident workers (NRWs).
The labour force living in Macau stood at 371,200, while the labour force participation rate amounted to 67.8 percent.
The number of the unemployed dropped by 1,000 from the previous period to 10,500, while the number of the underemployed decreased by 100 to 7,900.
At the end of March, according to Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) data, Macau had 154,658 NRWs, most of them mainland Chinese (107,745) and Philippine nationals (24,245).
According to a previous DSEC statement, Macau's population totalled 673,600 at the end of the first quarter, comprising local residents, NRWs and non-local students.
