The ‘Macao One Account’ mobile app launched a new function yesterday – “My Education” – to facilitate online enquiries and education-related application services, Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) Educational Resources Department Chief Tang Wai Keong announced during a press conference at the bureau in Nam Van.
The new function, according to Tang, targets students, parents, teaching staff, schools and tertiary education institutions. He said that students can apply for services ranging from school supply subsidies and scholarships to “various declarations”, adding that students aged 15 or above can check their “Continuing Education and Development Programme” accounts and course attendance records.
Parents can apply for “Enrolment Procedure for Children Entering Kindergarten for the First Time” through the app, according to Tang, who added that educators can also enquire about job opportunities at private schools.
Tang said the launch was made in line with the government’s effort to promote e-government. The “Macao One Account” allows residents to complete application procedures without leaving their homes, making the process “much easier and inclusive”.
Tang noted that 16 items are currently available for applications or enquiries, adding he expected the number to increase to 22 by the end of this year.
From September onwards, according to Tang, beneficiaries of the “Continuing Education and Development Programme” subsidy scheme may submit their individual applications to the bureau for subsidy disbursements through “My Education”.
When asked about upcoming developments, Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) Department Chief Chan Chi Kin said during the press conference that the government has drafted a plan to launch a new function on the “Macao One Account”, after which residents could change their address via the app in the near future, while also updating the number of bureaus allowing online reservations.
Meanwhile, Chan told reporters after the press conference that ID card renewal services will also be added to the “Macao One Account”.
Yesterday’s press conference was also attended by a DSEDJ senior official Tou Ka Hou.
