Secretary for Economy and Finance Lionel Leong Vai Tac said yesterday that the government will listen to the public on whether to toughen the punishment for Ponzi scheme instigators.

Leong made the remarks on the sidelines of the opening session of the Tai Hu World Cultural Forum at the Venetian in Cotai.

Three local men were arrested last month for allegedly running a Ponzi scheme which they started in 2014 involving at least HK$66 million and at least 50 victims.
