The Judiciary Police (PJ) took about 120 teens from its “Community Safety Youth Leader Programme” and “Youth Fight Crime Programme” to the “Loving the Country, Loving Macau Education Base for Young People” on Saturday, according to a PJ statement.
According to Saturday’s statement, in order to deepen teens’ understanding of Chinese history and culture, Macau’s development and achievements, the police decided to take youngsters from the two programmes to visit the patriotic education base at the Macau Handover Gifts Museum in Nape.
The statement quoted a pupil as saying that the trip to the base had enabled him or her to learn more about Chinese culture and Macau’s development, adding that the pupil felt proud of his or her own country. Another pupil also told the police that he or she felt the need to continue to improve onself in order to give back to the country in the future.
The Chinese-language statement did not reveal the gender of the two pupils.
The Judiciary Police said in a statement that it had been placing a lot of emphasis on youth crime prevention education work, adding that they started the “Community Safety Youth Leader Programme” and “Youth Fight Crime Programme” in 2013 and 2018 respectively. The two programmes have attracted over 1,400 youths over the years to take part, the statement underlined.
According to the statement, the programmes aim to assist young adults in acquiring “positive morals and morale”, with the hope that they will contribute to the city’s development in the future.
