The University of Macau Symphonic Band (UMSB) performed six pieces of dance music with different music backgrounds at the Student Activity Centre (E31-Plaza) on Friday on Hengqin island campus.

The Macau Post Daily published an interview with conductor Ng Sa and the band’s captain Michelle Lao Hio Chao on November 22.

The band played music originating from Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzolla, fusion jazz musician Chick Corea, French classical composer Gabriel Fauré, US musician Randall Standridge, and Brazilian composer Ary Barroso.

UMSB was founded in April 2007, aiming to provide formal music training for students. Led by conductors Leung Kin Hang and Ng, the band has been promoting arts and culture on campus and boosting the development of band music in the local community.
