An exhibition of artwork by teachers and pupils from the local Fukien School, titled “ Spreading the Charm of Art • Building the Future with a Childlike Heart”, is on display at the gallery of the Education Resources Centre of the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) this week.

The event is sponsored by the bureau and organised by the school.

According to an article on the DSEJ website, this exhibition brings together more than 100 creations of diverse visual art work by the private school’s pupils and teachers, including Chinese ink paintings, traditional calligraphy, watercolours, drawings, children’s paintings, pastels, handicrafts, ceramics, and photography.

The participants strived to create a new world of art, and give vitality to each work with innovative thinking, the unsigned article says, adding that the creations “are the most direct, true and vital capture of life by the teachers and pupils.”

The exhibition runs until Saturday in the ground-floor Zizhan Gallery of the DSEJ Education Resources Centre at 926 Avenida da Praia Grande. It opens daily from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 5:40 p.m. Admission is free.

As part of the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures, visitors need to wear a facemask, have their temperature checked and present a digital health code when entering the gallery.

About a fifth of Macau residents are immigrants from Fujian province and their local-born offspring. “Fukien” is Cantonese for “Fujian”. The school was set up three decades ago.
