Parafuturo de Macau Investment and Development Limited (PFM Macau) CEO Jose Chui Sai Peng told reporters yesterday that last year local technological innovations by youths attracted the most investors.

Chui made the remarks yesterday on the sidelines of an MGM x Macau Youth Entrepreneur Incubation Centre (MYEIC) Young Entrepreneur Nurturing Programme at MGM Macau.

Chui said that a lot of companies were willing to use local products and services but were not aware of what was out there. Therefore, Chui said his company helped local small-and-medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to gain more exposure. He said that a successful business needed to meet two requirements – an innovative idea and one that could meet the market needs.

Chui said for example the Yorkshire Online Academy was able to increase in size during the COVID-19 pandemic because it was able to fill the niche in the market.

According to a statement provided by MGM during the event, the nurturing programme aims to connect local entrepreneurs with bigger businesses. The statement also said MGM hopes that through this platform youth entrepreneurs could “reach further”.

The statement said that the event awarded ten local SMEs for achieving “business excellence” in the past year. The event also hosted a share and interactive session for award-winning business owners to share their achievements.
