Macau will conduct a one-in-a-decade census from April 1 to August 21 this year, the local government has announced.

The census, carried out every 10 years, will cover the areas administered by the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) government, according to a draft regulation announced by the government on Friday. Discussion of the draft administrative regulation (by-law) by the government’s top advisory Executive Council (ExCo) was completed on that day.

The census data will be collected via paper or electronic questionnaires.

According to the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC), Macau’s population stood at 682,800 at the end of the third quarter of last year, comprising 319,000 males and 363,800 females. The population figure comprises residents and non-resident workers.
