The government will run its first-ever training course for residents about the detection and repairs of water leaks in buildings to provide them with the relevant qualifications and skills, with the aim of facilitating a more rapid handling of the problem.
The course is co-organised by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL), Housing Bureau (IH) and Lands, Public Works and Transport Bureau (DSSOPT), as well as the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen) and Macau Construction Industry Environmental Protection Society. A press conference about the course was held at the Vocational Skills Training Centre run by the federation
Addressing the press conference, DSAL Director Wong Chi Hong said the government expected the course to help alleviate the shortage of qualified technicians in the plumbing field and thus speed up repairs in buildings affected by leaks.
