An exhibition of drawings and illustrations entitled “Sentimental Attachment” by six local artists is being held at Creative Macau – Centre for Creative Industries. The event is supported by the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM).
According to a statement by Creative Macau, the exhibition displays hand-painted, micro-jet, watercolour artworks and collages by six artists – Aya Lei, Heidi Ng Hoi Teng, Chiang Wai Lan, Lo Yuenyi, Madalena Fonseca, and Ng Iok Lin.
The statement points out that drawing and illustration are two distinct visual expressions that underline their authors’ identity and “imaginative universe”. Sometimes, according to the statement, they represent a perfect symbiosis, and the artists have a sentimental attachment in common.
The statement underlines that drawing is in essence the artistic self-expressions of what is “seen”. It represents ideas through lines and sketches, in a concrete or abstract way, objects, shapes, everyday scenes, and nature. Illustration explains the existing text by synthesising it visually – whoever “looks” at the image, pictures the story, the statement points out.
The exhibition is on at the gallery of Creative Macau until April 10 on the ground floor of the Macau Cultural Centre complex in Nape from Monday to Saturday except public holidays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The exhibits are for sale priced at between 800 and 12,000 patacas.
