A Filipino was arrested this week for posting a child porn video on Facebook on Sunday, Judiciary Police (PJ) Sou Sio Keong said during a special press conference yesterday.
The 35-year-old suspect is a non-resident worker surnamed Cadano who told the police that he worked as a gardener.
According to Sou, PJ officers received an Interpol notice on Tuesday about a 2 minute and 26 second-long child porn video posted by someone in Macau showing a girl under the age of 14, appearing to be Asian, having sexual intercourse and oral sex with an adult man.
The video was intercepted by the Facebook system and reported to the US authorities. After investigation, the US authorities discovered that the IP address of the poster was located in Macau, and Interpol then notified the local police about the case.
According to Sou, PJ officers set up a task force for the investigation and tracked down Cadano, who was arrested at his workplace in Coloane on Tuesday.
Under questioning, PJ officers discovered about 20 other pornographic videos on his smartphone in addition to the one he posted on Sunday. Cadano told the police that he downloaded the video in 2018 but denied that he posted it on Facebook. He also refused to tell the police about the source of the video and information about the girl, according to Sou.
Cadano was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) yesterday, facing a child pornography charge.
