GEG invites NPC deputies, CPPCC members to share ‘two sessions’ spirit

Gaming operator Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) said in a statement yesterday that it hosted a sharing session recently at the JW Marriott Hotel Macau Ballroom at Galaxy Macau about the 4th Plenary Session of the 13th National People’s Congress (NPC) and the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), officially known as the “two sessions” that were held in Beijing earlier this month.

According to the statement, the aim of the session was share the spirit of the “two sessions”.

According to the statement, the company invited NPC deputy Kou Hoi In, CPPCC member Ho Teng Iat, CPPCC member and GEG Vice Chairman Francis Lui Yiu Tung to share with GEG’s senior executives their insights into this year’s “two sessions”.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the statement pointed out.

The CPC was founded in Shanghai on July 23, 1921.

The statement said that during the sharing session Kou, Ho and Lui gave an overview of the “two sessions”, and detailed many of the central government’s work reports and priorities for the 14th Five-Year Plan, which is considered the starting point of a new journey to build the nation into a modern socialist country.

The statement also pointed out that they also shared their views on post-COVID-19 pandemic economic recovery, the opportunities for Macau to integrate with the overall development of the country, the long-term benefits of practising the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, and insights into how Macau can leverage its successful implementation of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle to integrate with the developments in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) amid the country’s “dual circulation” economic strategy.

According to the statement, Ho said that “Macau plays an important in the country’s 14th Five-Year Plan. Therefore, Macau should actively promote the smooth and long-term successful practice of the ‘One Country, Two Systems’, integrate into the nation’s overall development, continue to promote the spirit of ‘loving the motherland and loving Macau’, and build a beautiful home with all Macau residents.”

Meanwhile, Lui shared with the team members the nation’s achievements in the past year, including COVID-19 prevention, poverty alleviation, innovation in science and technology, infrastructure development, and the development of national systems and values. He also commented on the GBA development, opportunities for Hong Kong and Macau, youth-related issues, and patriotic education. He also encouraged teenagers to learn Putonghua, and adopt a healthy and positive attitude towards their country, the statement said.

The statement said that Galaxy Entertainment Group pledged to continue to strengthen its support to promoting national education in Macau, and helping nurture the patriotism of its team members and local teenagers.
